OpenMetroMaps strives to build a community around free schematic maps for cities with rapid transit networks. The project could eventually grow into something similar to OpenStreetMap, by providing a database with free metro maps from around the world, gathered by a community of volunteers. At the core of the project is a set of free software tools that are being developed on GitHub. The projects software landscape consists of a desktop drawing software for metro maps (kind of a specialized Inkscape for metro network maps), a file format for storing such maps, as well as a number of viewer applications for different platforms (Web, Desktop, Mobile). This mailing list is intended to be used for discussing topics for fellow developers, as well as a point of contact for early users of the software.
