Hi,
I don't know how to check FineReader compatibility for certain but here is a list updated some time last year from the FineReader website at:
http://www.abbyy.com/support/?param=28557
I notice some scanners I looked at gave OCR a mention in the specs, and some of the Epson models came with FineReader Sprint, one of which I went for. Yes I have an all in 1 DX7400 but there is also a DX8400 which I I remember hearing about some special offers on but I don't know for certain. I bought mine from www.ebuyer.co.uk but Amazon is worth a check too if you don't mind going online. I'm still on Windows XP so I'm not sure about Vista.

Hi Jean -

Thanks for responding; I have Finereader 7 pro, I hadn't considered that it
might not work on certain all in ones! Is your Epsom an all in one? I need
an all in one to be Vista ready! -

Andy

| Hi,
| I can't really answer the questions you've asked, although I'd expect
| the USB cable to be the printer cable which seems strange but that
| won't help you will it! I just wanted to check you've thought about
| OCR and whether it will be supported in your program. That was my
| main problem when searching myself as I didn't find anything to say a
| lot of the printer/scanners were not supported but couldn't always be
| sure they were either. I ended up going for a Epson DX7400 as I
| found a good looking review, it seemed up to date enough and came
| with FineReader Sprint, which although is only a basic OCR program,
| meant it was up to some reading.
