They seem to be modes to control the way in which you use your fingers to
type. they also have different echo functions. It's hard to describe it
without actually having it in my hand, which I don't now as it was sent back
to London. I'd suggest you look at the voiceover documentation on the Apple
website which describes it in extreme detail.

Hi,
Can I just say that the iPad voiceover is implemented even better than
that on the iPhone? There are some additional typing modes, and also
the pronunciation of words is improved.
Note for clarity that the iPad is not yet available in the Uk to my
knowledge, and the one I used was purchased in the US.
