Hi,

Wondered what had been happening to my system in the past few days. Hadn't realised that, when installing a new wireless router sent to me by BT, it also installed all their browser software, anti spy, messenger and, I worry, more. A bit cheeky for them to include this in a router installation disk with no real warning of what's going on your PC. I had avoided using their software for years.

However, this accidental install has given me an opportunity to look around the BT Yahoo browser which is a variation on Internet Explorer and is of the new generation including tabs and bookmarks.

I had heard of tabs but wasn't quite aware what they did. They're quite a good feature. For those who haven't read about Firefox or the new IE7, you can add your really top favourite websites to what's known as a Start Group. So when you open your browser in the morning you can have your top favourite sites ready to read already loaded up. You just do a control-pagedown in my case to flick between The Independent, The Media Guardian and BBC News home pages. Nice faeture.

It also has a menu option at the top of the screen called Bookmarks. I think bookmarks in firefox are what we tend to call RSS feeds, but one quick look of the BT Yahoo browser seems to suggest it's more like a Favourites list.

It's not as accessible as regular Internet Explorer. The control-F find doesn't work as well. It has dug its way into my system so that it now appears to be the default browser of sorts and I think may have affected my Outlook mail in some way too. Loading up web pages also seems to bring a fair few script errors and hence lots of me having to click on options saying things like "would you like to continue reading this page with no scripts yes or no" which are a bit confusing and annoying.

The readability of the main window seems not quite as responsive either in JAWS - I'm using JAWS 5 here at home.

Just a few useful notes. It seems that the BT Yahoo browser could be quite interesting. They've definitely done some accessibility work but - for me at least - it's not done the full trick.

So, that aside, has anyone got any tips on how to remove the bloody thing? Or change the default browser? <smiles>

Much appreciated

...Damon
