I've played with Karen's replicator today.

This is cool for backing up specified folders or drives that in the case of 
an OS restoration the destination drive can be swopped with the source.

This is not a bootable backup method.

Ah, well CD's are a different kettle of fish as of course you can't back
up files to CD like you can with any other storage device. You need to
use your usual CD burning programme to back up files to CD. Hope that
helps.
