Hi,
Try this page which has a FAQ list about the two formats:

In particular there is a question and answer in the second section which
specifically deals with the difference between blu-ray and DVD.
Personally I do not know many people who have gone down the Blu-Ray route as
far as TV viewing is concerned, although of course it is gaining in popular
with regard to games consoles.
