You should look at the Braille Sense U2 - released at CSUN - , Perkins keys ( or qwerty) blue tooth, GPS receiver, light, market leading storage and memory... and much more

I am biased, we distribute it, but worth a look

Thanks David. I am not really surewhat I am after at the moment. I know I want something very light, must have wi-fi and bluetooth but as I know so little about them at present I will keep reading. I like the sound of your Perkins type keys. I would like to input in braille and read back some information in dots instead of listening to a voice all the time. I have a laptop, desktop and iPad 2.

Thanks once again for feedback.

Regards

Mary

Hi Mary

It really depends on what you are trying to achieve.

I use the Alva BC650 with feature pack as a Braille output system for
the PC and Mac products.
It also has a microphone on it, and speakers so that it can be used as
a Skype in/out device.
Also, it has a Braille Perkins style inputting facility to be used
with its on-board simple note taker.

I have loaded NVDA portable onto one of its two flash drives so I can
use it to access various family computers without installing access
software onto them.

Subject: [access-uk] Braille notetakers

Hi,

I am thinking about buying a Braille notetaker as I would like to read
and write more in this form. I know very little about the various
ones available so could someone please advise. I am tempted by the
Pac Mate Omni, does this have the latest firmware on the market? Does
this have the largest storage capacity? What other things would I
need to consider? Is there good support for the product here in the UK?

Any help much appreciated.

Regards

Mary
