Hi Roger,
I use Goldwave for this, not sure if there is a free or trial version available.
Also I found that the volume of the recording was quite low so I had to use
the settings in Goldwave to increase the volume after recording from cassette.

Subject: [access-uk] Converting Cassette to CD
Doing some sorting last night and come across a talking book on cassette
tapes that was given to me some years ago that I’ve never listened to. I would
like to convert this to a CD or preferably directly onto my hard drive. When I
did this years ago I used the Magic software but no longer have this so my
question is how can I do this without having to buy expensive software again.
Many thanks Roger
