Well, I tried it but still no joy. I'm now using my recently purchased
iRIVER H320 to move data from one machine to the other. It's a bit slow but
at least it works.

Well, I finally got the message. Put it down to my age. The bit that
confused me was the name of the folder. It hadn't been truncated. I
decided
to start again from scratch and called the File Sharing folder 'Shared.'
I
did this with both computers and then, using PC02, typed
\\pc01\sharing\uploads and got the error message as before, 'The network
location cannot be reached.' I thought I'd have yet another go with the
Network Setup Wizard but not unexpectedly, that also ended in failure.
What
a way to start the new year? I was hoping I could begin this one on a
positive note but at this point, I think I'll give up and resort to
drowning
my sorrows.

He share name should be just bellow that box which says share this
folder on the network. If you tab once after that radio button, you
should see the box I am on about.

Sorry if I seem to be thick but I'm confused. You said,

I can't see a box with a truncated name for the folder I've created.
After
creating the folder, I open the context menu and press Enter on 'Sharing
and
Security.' Sharing properties opens and I place a check mark against
'share
this folder on the network' and press Enter. I don't see the box with
the
truncated name for the folder anywhere. What am I missing?
