Hi Jackie.

Its very rare i'll record something to my PC, because results can vary as to what image quality you get depending on the TV card you have, as well as the software used. I found that sometimes the image when recording from VHS was being stretched too much to accomodate modern screen sizes, so i bought an older analogue card for carrying out VHS conversions as the problem didn't exist on those. you shouldn't in theory have this problem when recording from the tvonics when using modern cards, i've yet to test it extensively. At least now though, your friend will have a good idea as to what's involved. 1 of the first things i did was to see if the recordings could be copied directly from the tvonics hard drive. although i got hold of the file, its encrypted and because of the protection, i found that i could only play it back on the tvonics. You can buy freeview recorders that record to a pen, though how accessible they are i can't say. I just hope that Pulse Eight consider implementing this functionality on the tvonics boxes in future.

Hi Mo

Thanks, I will pass this on. It wouldn't interest me personally to be
bothered, but a friend would like to try it! I just watch and delete!

Kind Regards,

Hi Jackie.

The only way you can do this is by using a TV tuner card to capture the
output via your computer to a video file. they're not that expensive, though
image results can vary depending on which program you use to record it to
your PC. the process would basically mean that you play the program on the
tvonics, then record it to your PC meaning you have to wait until its
finished before stopping the recording on your PC. its cumbersome to say the
least but depends how important the program is to you. most of them are
available online as well, i'll say no more here for obvious reasons...

Asking on behalf of a friend using one of these boxes. Is it possible
to copy programmes from this device to another source such as external
hard drive or pen?

Many thanks.
