Thanks for this, Eleanor. Well, I can't see why recovery wouldn't work with
external HD's. The folder were definitely deleted. I stupidly configured
Karen's Replicator the wrong way; that how it all happened.

I just wander if these recovery utilities are really of any use that they can't
even recover data that is just been deleted. The HD is in a folly working order!

Cheers,
Amro

I do not think so if it was an external HD.

I have TuneUp Utilities and again you can download a trial version but I
doubt you will have success. Is there no chance that you moved them to another
folder without realizing it. The obvious, have you done a Search for them on
the computer with the HD plugged in?

Thanks Peter. I've downloaded this tool now but it couldn't find the
folders I'm looking for. Actually I have now tried version 4.0 of Handy
Recovery and another utility called Get Data Back for NTFS, and none of them
located what I'm after either. They found a lot of rubbish from a while back
but any of the folders or files I want!

The two folders I deleted were my music folder and another folder that I
keep some applications in. So, is it the type of files I'm trying to recover
the reason that no recovery utility I've tried is finding them? I only deleted
them last night from an external HD and nothing's been written on that HD since.

    So any more suggestions please?

System Recovery wont work as it doesn't recover files, just restores the
previous configuration.

I use a free tool called Handy Recovery. It doesn't even need to be
installed, just run the executable and it will work. Did have to use a bit of
JAWS cursoring though as whilst tabbing gets you to some parts of the screen,
there are others which don't appear.

Do a search on Google for it, that's what I did.

Would not System Restore work for you?

Right, in a genius moment I've managed to permanently delete two
folders, two quite chunky folders actually. So, does anyone know of a tool that
might help in recovering this lost data? I can ask for sighted help if need be.
Please help! *miserable face*
