Hi John,

The LS3 is pretty accessible, I have one. It is not a Daisy player though.

All the best

Steve

Hi Mandy, are you sure that the unit you have isn't the LS3? The DM5 is the
same as it ever was. If indeed it is the LS3 then no, it isn't accessible.

Incidentally, time and date is spoken while setting on the DM5, certainly it
has been the case since 1.30.

                    John.

Subject: [access-uk] DM5 and DM675.

This is going to sound crazy to most I suppose, it is!

In March I bought the DM5 and it didn’t take long to get used to most of the
functions: I made some good sound recordings mostly family and friends and
then because one of my friends was impressed with the recordings, she bought
the same product except that it wasn’t – she purchased it from RNIB as I had
done but it is the 675 which is presumably newer. It has three microphones
instead of two, it doesn’t have Daisy facility and there are a couple of other
differences.

I thought tat with three microphones it would produce better recordings so I
now have one as well as the DM5 but find that it is far less accessible. There
is speech but it doesn’t work with all the functions. My question is: is it
likely to be updated as the DM5 has been and how will I become aware of these
updates?

Am I correct in thinking I have 14 days to return this product (it arrived last
Saturday) and if there is a fair chance of it being updated with more speech I
will keep it. I am certain that the DM5 did not originally speak the time
settings as this does not: probably more things besides.

Sorry for the long post: I do hope it has made sense.

Mandy.
