[access-uk] DVD Question

Hi All
I recently bought the Guv'ner a 3 in 1 combi for her birthday. This is a
DVD, VCR and HDD recorder/player made by Funai. She has now cracked how to
transfer from a tape to a DVD -R disc but only that machine will play it. My
DVD player/burner and hers in our computers register the disc as blank.
Does anyone know if this is normal or is it something she's doing
incorrectly. We've looked in the 100 page instruction book but can find no
mention of this problem. Any help greatly appreciated.
