Barry,

Thaks, but this is not the Windows Messenger application. It says in the
general tab info that it is specifically not related to Windows Messenger.
I wish to disable the application that sits in my system tray saying Windows
Messenger Not Signed In when it is selected.

Thanks,

Hi Mark

This is how it's done on XP Home.

Go into your control pannel and

under administrative tools hit enter on services. You should only need to

hit tab once to bring you to a list view of local services. Hit m until you

get to messenger. It will say something about sends and receives messages or

something like that. Hit enter on it to go to the properties and on the

general page hit stop. After you have stopped it set the startup type to

disable. This way it will be disabled everytime you restart the machine.
