Thanks Mo but I've alredy done this but could find nothing in there which seemed to be appropriate for turning off the "GWXUX.exe" file so that I don't keep getting asked to upgrade to Windows 10. It seems to be this which is stopping my IE11 browser from working correctly by constantly distracting it without me knowing.

However, I've just had another look in this Scheduler and have now found something called "Microsoft User Experience" or similar title and turned this off.

I'm hoping that this wil fix the problem but am not sure if it has yet.

Hi John.

The easiest way of finding it would be to go in to start and begin typing scheduler. then, arrow down and it should be one of the top options.

all the best,

Mo.

Hello again Mo,

Well, if the Task Scheduler and Task Manager are not the same thing. I still need to know how to get to the Task Scheduler.

Do you know where it is?

thanks.
John.

Hi John.

Task Scheduler is normally used to schedule future tasks, i assumed you meant the task manager as opposed to the task scheduler.

all the best,

Mo.

Hello Mo,

Thanks for this. In fact, if I had of realised that "Task Scheduler" is just another name for the Task Manager I wouldn't have had to ask this question.

Thanks, anyway.
John.

Hello All,

I'm using Windows 8.1 and am currently experiencing a problem with a Microsoft file called GWXUX.EXE; or, at least, I think it's that file which is causing the trouble. It makes certain web pages failed to disp;lay and my NVDA speech freeze at the same time.

I believe that this GWXUX.EXE file is something to do with the ability to upgrade to the free Windows 10 at some point.

I also believe that you can disable it via the Windows Task Manager in Win8 but can find no way to get to the Task Manager. Can anyone tell me how to access the Task Manager in Win8?

Thanks.
John.
