Hi John,
There’s no pricing for the ElBraille as yet.
While I like the fact that it’s a modular device so that if you own JAWS and
the Focus 14 Blue, you need only buy the docking station with the tablet
innards, I’m not totally convinced that I’d want a full-blown computer without
a screen in case I ran into errors where there was no spoken feedback. While
the ElBraille will let you launch a self-voicing menu to restart JAWS or the
computer if JAWS crashes, I wonder what happens if you get an error on startup
before speech loads.
The fact that the device isn’t instant on and according to the manufacturer,
takes half a minute to come out of hibernation, would also be an issue if I
wanted a note taker where instant on is often useful.
I did like some of the connectivity options, including the ability to take a 3G
SIM. But rather like with comments on the BrailleNote, I wonder why you’d ship
something that was almost obsolete. Surely 4G could have been included.
Cheers,
Ed

Hi John
My understanding is that Braille Touch runs on KitKat, so it's out-of-date
before it hits the proverbial shelf!

Store.
Hi John
Yes it does sound interesting, but El Braille sounds even more up my
street because it is based on Windows 10, and has a detachable Braille
display. If this is all true and not just conflicting rumour, then it
has to be better than devices using Windows CE. The HumanWare Braille
Touch still uses its KeySoft suite of apps, so I am cautious about how
this device will work when you download third party stuff from the Play
now i must win the lottery.
Let's see what happens.
Kind Regards,
Jackie Brown

Subject: [access-uk] the new braille note touch
hi all
i have just heard the podcast from mystic access about the new release
of the bhl note touch device. this device is either an 18 or 32 cell
braille display on an android tablet using keysoft. touch bhl sounds
awesome and the product really does sound very very good indeed making
use of the touch braille and also using the tablet just like an
android tablet. the device is to be shipped around may so watch this
space. i think that humanware are on a winner with this product as you
can use the app or should i say play store. so you have access to the
google docx files skype and all the apps one can use on an android tablet.
