Andy,
This will probably be the function key, marked as Fn. It's used as a
modifier together with other keys to mimic the number pad. On a Dell
Latitude D630, for instance, Fn + u is the same as NumPad 4. If you're
using a screen reader with some kind of key describe mode, you should be
able to find out which key combinations stand in for which number pad
keys.
