Hi everyone

Thought you would be interested in this piece of information from the
British Computer Association of the Blind regarding Bookshare:

"Many of you will have heard of Bookshare.org in the United States and
will have been envious of the huge selection of books freely available
to Americans on the site. Well Bookshare.org.uk has now arrived and we
can get some of the benefits here in the UK.

Bookshare has been working away, talking to the publishers to extend
its
agreements to make books available to print disabled people all over
the
world. At the Techshare exhibition last week it was announced that
because of these talks some of the Bookshare material is now available
to people here in the UK. Unfortunately we can't get all of the books
on
the main site but there are a couple of thousand books ranging from
children stories, through fiction and science fiction to O'Reilly
technical books there for you to download and read.

If you go to www.bookshare.org.uk you will find out much more about
this
new service. If, like me, you had joined the main Bookshare.org
service
your existing username and password will allow you to log on. If you
are not already a member go to the site to find out what books are
available and how to join. It costs about $75 and the way the exchange
rate is these days that is quite a bargain."

Regards
Megan Gilks
