Hi Donna,
Briefly, FreedomBox is a system for blind people that has its own text-based
interface, and comes with its own speech program, System Access, which acts
pretty much as a screen reader.
Elements of the system include instant messenger, audio-described films,
e-mail client, weather, TV listings (and yes they do include the UK) , and -
pretty good this - a way of making a CD or memory stick with parts of the
system on it so you can plug into anyones else's PC and still have speech.
You have to pay annual fees to get all the facilities, but there is a
one-off payment of £25 to get some of it.

What is this and what does it do?
