Greetings,

My systems are both WindowsXP home, one has Jaws V10 the other Jaws V11. I
have installed GoldWave V5.67 which, so far as I am aware is the latest
available, I have also installed the latest Jaws scripts.

I note in the new versjion of GoldWave, there is a change to how a file is
recorded. If f9 is pressed, a new file is opened and recording commences
immediately, this uses whatever parameters are set for default, but if the
parameters are set in control properties, a new file started using f9 will
be the specified time in these properties.

The old form of ctrl+f9 is now spare, according to the keyboard, which I
saved under options and keyboard, this also now contains a new item, called
record selection, which is unassigned.

I decided, therefore, ti assign ctrl+f9 to this function, closed GoldWave,
reopened it and loaded the amended keyboard in. I then created a new file
using the usual ctrl+n which was created no problems. I assumed, therefore,
in effect, this would be a selection so tried recording via the ctrl+n
command as in the past and nothing recorded.

I tried opening an existing file the start of which I wished to replace,
moving start and end markers as necessary leaving 8 minutes to be replaced,
on starting ctrl+f9 still nothing was recorded.

Can anybody tell me am I missing something, or is it now necessary when
needing to insert or overwrite, the material must be created in a new file
then pasted into/over the existing?

If so, in my view this is a retrograde step and I shall revert to my
tried-and-tested version 5.58 which does exactly what I wish.

I have written to the author, I have also checked the frequently asked
questions and the help informmation in the program, I have not, as yet,
checked the manual. I did find on the site ctrl+f9 is still given as the
start recording keystroke, so it would seem the site has yet to be updated.
