[access-uk] Help with Zen firmware update please!

Hi, I'm afraid it's me again folks...

I have tried to update the firmware from my Zen 2Gb player using the Creative software but get an error that active x is disabled. I've been into just about every setting in Internet Explorer that I can find in Internet options, including both the security and advanced tabs. I changed everything I could think of but no joy.

I then went to the creative.com/zenstone page to find the firmware and download it manually but was offered only the 1Gb stone and the zenstone with built-in speaker. I assumed that the firmware for the 1Gb is possibly different but clicked on that and got the option to check other models. I went there but, when I chose the 2Gb it went to the firmware for the models going right up to 32Gb and talked about improved support for memory cards, pictures etc. This would not seem to be the correct firmware either.

Can anyone shed any light on the issue, either where my active X is disabled, or which model firmware I need? A direct link would keep my barber in business because I'm currently pulling my hair out!

All the best,
Barry G

Barry,

If it is the same as the 1GB version, then four hours should be more than
enough. If you have Brian Hartgen's excellent scripts, then you can obtain
a percentage of full charge while the Stone is charging.

Sorry folks, I found a lot of the info I needed in one of my archives, don't
know why I couldn't find it the first time I looked.

I would still like to know the first charge recommended time if anyone knows
it...

All the best,
Barry G

Hi Mandy,

The 2gb zen is listed on the pc world website, however it was only
available via reserve/collect. Fortunately there's a branch of pcworld
local to me, so I was able to reserve it online and pick it up instore.

Cheers,

Tim.

Hi Tim, I know I'm late on this but haven't got round to reading the
mail,
naughty I know. Did you buy the Zenstone on line, I have looked but only
seen it on the Creative web site?

Hi Mandy,

I Bought my 2gb Zen from pc world a couple of weeks ago. I think it's
also
available from currys who of course are part of the same group.

I can confirm it's identical in operation to the 1 gig unit. You want
the
Zen stone, as opposed to the zen stone plus which has a display, and
apparently is not so accessible.

Cheers,

Tim.

Hi, can anyone tell me where is the best place to buy the 2 gig
Zenstone,
I
looked at the Creative Light web site but it isn't very comprehensive,
it
has 1 gig and 2 gig and they both seem to be £27.99 but I bought a 1 gig
at
Amazon for £19.99 just after Christmas and Amazon don't seem to have the
2
gig.
