Hi Andy.

1. You can delete the whole library by doing a select all in the music list
and then hitting delete. However, in a large collection this can take a few
minutes to complete the select all so you may think it’s not working.

2. As far as I know , there is no difference between using add folder or
pasting directly into Itunes but I always use the add folder option. I tend to
use Itunes for ripping these days though so have less of a need to do this.

3. Are you saying that the tracks are duplicated even when adding the folder
only once? Where has the music originally come from? Purchased from Itunes or
elsewhere and then added? Or, ripped from CD and then added to Itunes? This
seems very unusual if you are only adding once and it may be that you do need
to clear your Itunes library and reload it again in case it has become
corrupted in some way.

4. I don’t think there’s anything in theory to prevent you having multiple
Itunes libraries but I wouldn’t advise it. You can set the Itunes library in
the preferences under the advanced tab and you would have to change this each
time you wanted to load a different library and probably restart Itunes each
time you change it. I really wouldn’t recommend it and would suggest you look
at other ways of organising your library using playlists or smart playlists.
You can also create folders with Itunes itself though I haven’t used this
feature.

Regards.

Kevin

Subject: [access-uk] Help with iTunes library please

Hi all -

Got some questions about iTunes:

1. How do I go about deleting a complete library? I can only see how to delete
album by album, which would take forever, but trying to select all doesn't seem
to work.

2. Is there a difference between importing a folder and doing a cut and paste
for that folder? Both seem to get the folder in to iTunes.

3. Anybody know why when I add a folder to the library, be it imported or
pasted, it keeps showing up with track duplications, in other words, if there
are 15 tracks on the album, it shows up as having 35, with each track repeated
3 times. If it makes a difference, I don't use iCloud.

4. If I wanted 2 or more iTunes music libraries instead of huge playlists, that
I could access under iTunes, how would I do this?

Thanks for any help -

Andy
