A static IP address will never change whereas a dynamic IP address will
change every time you log on to your service. some dynamic IP addresses can
also change after a given period of time, for example, every day.

if you want to run your own server you will need a static IP address, if you
just want to use the internet, email etc you can do all this just fine with
a dynamic IP address.

Subject: [access-uk] IP Address

Hi List.

Could someone tell me the difference between a static IP address, and one
that isn't?

Is it another one of those technical thing-a-me-bobs that need not worry
your everyday bog-standard surfer?
