on the same vein, on my router, there is a small switch, well, a place where you have to put your finger on and press for a second or 2 until a light comes on and enables the wireless connection, good job I had someone sighted to help me work that out when I installed it! Hopes this helps, and, as someone else said, there is also a switch, sometimes very tiny and partially hidden,so you don't move it accidentally on the laptop to enable wireless connection. Good luck!

Shane, believe me, nothing anyone says on this subject will appear stupid to
me!

I assume this is found within the connections tab of IE options?

I'll pass on what you've said. Its her first time setting something like
this up, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if something obvious has been
missed.

Cheers.

Connecting to the Internet

| Hi Darran
|
| This may seem an obvious and, perhaps, stupid question, but does your
sister have the LAN selector switched to the on position?
|
| Cheers

|
| Hi List.
|
| This is a question on behalf of my sister who's having connection
| difficulties with her new wireless laptop setup. so you'll have to excuse
me
| if my description of the problem is a bit patchy.
|
| The router is all set up, and the laptop and it seem to be wirelessly
| linked, but when she tries to connect to the internet nothing happens. Its
| as if the router isn't allowing for any outgoing connections.
|
| Now, as I say, I don't use wireless at all, so if I'm making no sense here
| in what I'm trying to describe, please excuse me!
|
| From what I can gather, the only directions my sister has so far found to
| resolve the problem all relate to folks using XP, and she's using Vista.
|
| So, we'd appreciate any help from listers who may know what's going on,
and
| of course, how to fix it.
|
| Many thanks.
|
| Darran
