It is usually the case that you have to dispense with the memory supplied and
replace completely with the new memory. Cost between about £30-40.

Can you easily and cost effectively upgrade memory on a netbook?

There is a version of IE 8 for windows xp. It is ie 9, currently in
beta, that will not be available for windows xp.

i am running ie 8 on my xp sp3 box here without any problem.

I upgraded from ie6 to ie8 and did not notice any significant change in
the speed and responsiveness.

Whether or not you want to put ie 8 on your netbook depends on the specs
of the machine and what screenreader and what version you are running.
With most standard netbooks, if using them with speech, it is a good
idea to upgrade the RAM to 2 gigs.

If your box appears sluggish or yoru screenreader does not support ie8,
you can try out firefox and/or try nvda for a screenreader.
