I've also been interested in this reader.
And I agree that the price is way way way over the top.
Perhaps Ian you guys could do a show about the cost of adaptive equipmen and
assistive software?
Obviously you are not going to get this gear for nothing and you will have
to pay a bit more than you would for mainstream products because of the
minority market in conjunction with it being specialist technology.
However, I do truly believe, (tightness of alot of blind people aside), that
it does need to be brought more in focus the price of this stuff. Once and
for all.

There really isn't much else to say. It does pretty much what it says on
the tin. In addition to what I said on the show I'd add that, as with many
pieces of access or adaptive technology, I think it's come slightly early to
market. The software and therefore aspects of the reader's performance can
be flaky. Sometimes, for example, it will give the battery status as two
hundred and fifty-seven per cent full. The other thing I'd continue to
argue as I have since first seeing it is that it is over-priced. Even if
you add R&D costs to the relatively low prices of the two constituent parts,
a five MP digital camera and a standard PDA, I think £2,600 is excessive.

I did hear it and I think Colin should give us a more detailed analysis than
he had time for on there! I love the idea, though I'm not sure how good it
really is, and the price puts me off, no way will ATW get that for me like
they did for Colin!
