Hi Jackie and Carol,
Some time ago I switched from OpenBook and now use Abby FineReader. It's
about £70 (about half the cost of an Openbook upgrade) and I'm wondering
what the bespoke blindness products offer that I don't get with Abby?

From my perspective, I think that following my switch, I got better
recognition, and better access to PDF files. I lost text to speech (which I
never used) but can't think of anything else off hand.

I'd be very interested to know why people still seem to prefer the other
products.

Hi Carol

Like you, I haven't upgraded for some years either, and would like to do so
if it's worth doing. I would like to be able to run it on Vista as well so
I can use it on my laptop if need be, so if anyone is doing this at present,

please also let me know your views.

Normally, a version pops up every autumn, but I haven't heard anything for a

long time.

Thanks.

Jackie
