Steve,

I'm not talking about buying a book by browsing the store, but if I have a
sample of a book on my Kindle, which I have to get from a computer if I'm using
speech, I can then buy the full book from my Kindle. I find the sample, press
RightArrow to move into a menu which has "buy this book now" as the first item,
and press Enter. The next screen tells me the purchase has worked - this screen
doesn't read at all, but if I press Home and then wait for a few seconds, the
purchased book appears.

Steve

Hi Steve,

As per 3, I don't think you can buy books on the kindle itself accessibly, you
have to do it on the computer. How do you browse the store for example?
The browser does not read.

I have never had 1 or 2happen to me.

I would suggest completely resetting the Kindle. She won't lose anything.
Just turn off the Kindle, not to screen saver, but completely off, then hold
down the power button for about 10 seconds.

All the best

Steve

Subject: [access-uk] Kindle problems

I was talking to a Kindle Keyboard speech user today, who said she's had three
problems with her device. I haven't come across any of these before, and
wondered if anyone else has?

1. Some books give a long number intermittently, something about "9 million
hours left", then continue reading. These aren't Audible books, they're
textbooks. This doesn't prevent her from reading, but it is disruptive.

2. For the last 3 weeks or so, samples don't read although if you then buy the
book, it does. This obviously means the whole purpose of samples is lost.

3. She can order samples and buy books on her PC, and they get delivered to her
Kindle. She can't buy a book direct from her Kindle Keyboard because speech
doesn't work in the Kindle Store on the device. She also says if she has a
sample on the Kindle, she can't buy it. I'm sure I've done that on my Kindle
Keyboard using the speech, and wondered if there may be something getting in
the way. My understanding is if you buy your Kindle from Amazon it comes
registered to your Amazon account, and that means you shouldn't have to
re-enter your credit card details on the Kindle.

Thanks for any thoughts,
Steve
