Hi list,
I need some serious help here please, to stop me going bonkers. You'd think
that changing the Dell laptop which has served me so well for the last six
years would be relatively simple, but I'm finding it really hard to get
something which meets the following criteria (or most of them). Please let
me have your thoughts.
1. Probably looking for an i7 15 inch ish model with 8GB which isn't
unusual.
2. keyboard needs to have some way of differentiating at least the cursor
keys easily. The Tosh series were great in this respect.
3. If using the function keys in their traditional mode requires a
simultaneous press of the Fn key, then this process must be resettable
somewhere to make the PF keys behave normally at start-up.
4. The manual should be in a readable format.
5. The battery life, sound quality and wireless should all be good.
Thought I'd found something acceptable in a Samsung NP700 - although I
gather that the fact that it has an aluminium lid may be the reason why the
wireless won't work as well as the three other machines in our house. I can
sort this with a USB dongle, but it will always be in the way.
Please help me sort this, as it's becoming both an annoying and time
consuming problem.
