Hello Folks, I have been following this thread and I got thinking. The Bristol
museum must have had an enormous job marking their exhibits as they are using
at least 10 Pen Friends to listen. I wonder how they did it? To answer this
thread, why not ask the RNIB or the manufacturer to solve your problem?

Cheers

Ron

Thanks Mike, it maybe, but it would still be helpful to understand the file
structure too.

Hi,

Is there any way that you could record all you need onto 1 penfriend, using the
"normal" method, then copy everything off it and duplicate onto however many
penfriends you are using?

This way, perhaps you could see where the sound files are written, if you want
alternative audio.

Yes, it does make sense, and I think the answer to that is that each label in a
range must be activated only by a file having a unique number.

Richard,

Not sure about this, but thinking about it....

Penfriends A and B, for the intents of this explanation...

If I use the first sticker from penfriend A, in theory could you not record a
different sound label onto penfriend B to the same sticker?
If so, there must be a file to link the sound file to the sticker. That is, if
you simply load on sound files, it needs to know which sticker activates it.

Did that make any sense?

Regards,

Mike

Hi, I thought I understood how to do this so that Penfriend readers could all
be loaded with WAV files recorded in a studio, and used by visitors to an
attraction to hear the same info every time they hit a particular label.

The file structure of the Penfriend looks very complicated, and while I'm
pretty sure they are somewhere in the Rec directory, I need help to understand
where the files go.

Another problem is that I don't seem to be able to play the WAV files on any of
the players installed on my laptop, which is odd.

Please could someone enlighten me so that the project I'm trying to assist
won't run into an unnecessary difficulty.

Thanks,
