I don't think so, Ibby. I'm using AVG and I think it only scans once a day
rather than being always active. I do have Sygate pro firewall. I wonder
if it might be that that's slowing the files down?

Hi Barry,

Could it be your antivirus that is checking your document?

Hi all

When I open a large .doc file in word, it takes at least a minute before I
can use it. I have 1mb of Ram and a Pentium 4 3.5 processor, which I think
should be fast enough to open these files almost instantly. Could it be
Google desktop that is slowing it down? I'm using Office 2003 on a XP pro
machine with JFW 5.1 pro.

If anyone can tell me how to speed this up without un-installing Google, I'd
really appreciate it.

Barry H
