Hi Andy

I don't see why you can't use 2000 in your new machine if you are happy with it. All Office does as it gets newer is add bells and whistles like everything else, and if you don't need them, don't bother. I've had 2003 for a long time now, and it isn't that much different from 2000 to someone who just wants to read and write documents, spreadsheets etc. I can't say anything about 2007 as I've never seen the ribbon structure, and only heard about it. I just wasn't going to fork out for a new upgrade for the sake of it.

I'm sure someone will tell you if you will be forced to upgrade to a later version of Office if you are going down the Vista route.

Jackie

Ah Jackie, I've been with MSOffice2000 all the way since it came out, so an upgrade I guess is due, but I don't know what MSO2007 will cost me after the
60 day trial runs out; maybe I could find a copy of 2003 for cheaper, from
what you say, it sounds more like 2000 than does 2007? -

| Hi Andy
|
| Mine came with a 30-day trial of Office 2007, but I removed it without
| launching it. I already have Microsoft Office Professional 2003, and I
| wasn't going to buy another copy just because it is later.
|
| Microsoft Works 8 is also there, but it wasn't a trial, so I left it and
| haven't even been in there to look at it as Office 2003 does what I want.
|
| Incidentally, I had no problems installing MS Office Professional 2003
| because I didn't launch 2007 first. Had I done that, it might have caused
| problems to go back.
