Hi Jackie.

Cannot get through to Maplands in Glasgow today, so perhaps they are shut on a Sunday. I'll keep trying though.

The first Maxter 300 gb drive was also purchased from this shop and all I did was plug it in and I was off. It's never given me any problems over the year I have had it. This is why I had no hesitation in buying the same model when I needed a bigger drive.

When I first plugged in the usb last night, the usual What do you want to do options came up. But this time they were different. The choices where. Install software on drive, Open folder to view files, I think and Take no action. Perhaps I should not have selected install software and simply choose open folder to view files?

As I said, I'm hoping to have a word with Maplands today, but if I do need to re-format as Roger suggests, is this a difficult task?

Hi Roger and Andy

Yes, that's exactly what I wondered. When I heard those names, it made me think immediately: "Ah, Apple Mac."

Since we are also looking for a new external drive, I might give Maplin a ring some time or pop over to the one in Edinburgh to see what they have. That's a very reasonable price for a storage size like that.

Hi Andy

Sounds you have a Mac configured drive. I would have thought a re-format to NTFS or FAT32 would solve your problem. Try a call to the Maplin store when they open about 11 am today.

Andy, if I didn't know any better, I would think it sounded like a Mac drive. I've seen those names with Apple Mac stuff.

Where did you get it out of interest?

Subject: [access-uk] Maxter 750 GB External Drive enquiry

Hi all.

I visited Glasgow today and purchased a Maxter 1 Touch 750 GB External Drive for a little over £100. I have loads of albums and my old Maxter 500 GB is running out of space.

I plugged in the new Maxter and the usual windows , What do you what to do message comes up. When I select Open Folder to view files, I'm presented with the following directories:
Bin.
Drivers.
EULA.
guides.
Mac OneTouch 4.app.
autorun.in.#
Launch.exe,
Launch.ini.
mxoicon6.ico.
OneTouch 4.dmg.

Can anyone please tell me if I've done anything wrong, or if not, where do I send my albums too. Do I simply create a new directory at the bottom of these folders, for example, Albums?

Any advise would be very appreciated.

Best wishes.

Andy.
