I'd restore my system to a point before you applied the Windows updates.
Sounds like the updates has messed things up somehow really. Unless someone
knows otherwise, I don't think that favourites should vanish from your IE
menu bar under any circumstances when updating Windows. If you've made
backups, I'd even copy my favourites list on memory stick or something
similar before restoring my system though by the sound of it you don't have
a backup. Good luck.

Hi Andrew, you can always restore your system to an earlier point before the
update or restore your favourites list from a backup if you keep one or have
setup Windows 7 to make backups. But before doing this could you explain
more what happens? In IE when you go to your favourites (alt a) what do you
get? Did you try to access the favourites folder? The path to your
favourites folder should be C:\Users\(your account)\Favorites

Cheers,
Amro

Hi All, I really hope someone can help me with this.. I just updated
my windows 7 system, and along with all the updates from Microsoft, since
doing this I cannot access my favourites anymore. Please is there away
around this problem please. I hope I can get it back as I had over 300
favourites in the folder, I found that I couldn't access it because
one I went to add another favourite website and couldn't do it. tried to
access the favourite folder and cannot do that either. I hope I can get
some help.
