I would make sure that you have not disabled wireless on your laptop by inadvertently pushing a button or a slider on your laptop itself.

This has happened to me before on old laptops.

Presumably as you are emailing you are online with some device so you could google wireless switch alongside the name of your laptop and may get a indication on where such a switch would be located.
