In the notification settings for the app in question, there is an adjustable
list under the heading "Alert Style When Unlocked". Changing the adjustable
list to alerts should do the trick

When I had IOS 6 and 7, the news alerts from the BBC and Sky would pop up on
screen and stay there until I deleted them. Using the latest IOS, no matter
what I set in the notifications section of settings, I can’t get this to work
like this again. I’ve turned badges on and off, and banners on and off but
neither setting seems to make any difference.
Any help getting BBC and Sky breaking news alerts to pop up would be much
appreciated.
