Thanks Carol, I'll bear all this in mind--he has no trouble sending and 
receiving mail, it's just that a copy doesn't get save in the sent folder. 
Haven't heard from him yet, so don't know if the suggestion regarding hidden 
messages has helped -

  There's a little trick you could try which certainly worked with older OE 
versions.  If you created a mailbox you had to put a message in it before it 
really functioned properly, so get him to copy or move a message from somewhere 
else to his Sent box and then try to send from the Outbox again.

  Another thing that I've sometimes had to do is to go into any messages in the 
Outbox that didn't go and tweak them a little so that they get changed, or 
appear to be, before they'd go;  and they won't arrive in the Sent box until 
they leave the Outbox, obviously.

  Hope something like this solves the problem.
