I can't comment on Jaws but I recently tried Office 2007 and it requires a steep learning curve. Its really completely different to any other version of Office because of the new ribben interface. Things that used to be in one place are now in another and seem to be grouped differently as well.
Also Microsoft are using a different font and size as default and I couldn't find a way of changing back to what I was used to using.
Basically my advice would be if you have plenty of time to spend learning how to use Office, upgrading is something to consider. If you have a job or are in Uni and are ok with your current version I wouldn't bother. I've reverted to Office 2003.
