Thanks to all for the help. I've now got it unplugged and everything's
working as normal.

Barry,

I run an XP Pro machine at work, and an XP Home machine at home,
neither of which have monitors connected to them. I get sighted assistance
via remote network software and the monitor space on my desk is cluttered
with other junk these days.

HTH,
Tink.

Hi George, none of my XP systems need the monitor o (home and pro)n, I only
ever turn it on if I need a sightie to help with a glitch! Haven't tried
disconnecting it, but had assumed that no power to the monitor would get the
same result?

All the best

Hi Barry,

In simple terms, NO! XP needs to see the hardware there, or
thinks it's faulty. However, this is not always a golden
rule.

Why don't you just switch it off, and see what happens? I
doubt the roof will collapse on top of you" (Smile)

George.
