Greetings especially roger, My friend said he'd tried WordPerfect via wordXP and it gave him rubbish but as I am copying this to my friend via the 'bcc' field, maybe he'll take another look. I have not checked my folder options to see if I could access such a file. It's a Word Perfect file and Word will open it. Go to Open and at the bottom of the dialogue box is a Type of Document box Tab down to the Word Perfect version 6x and it should do the trick. While looking through there I saw an option to extract text from pictures. It may be the answer to your first question. Roger You're just jealous because the voices only talk to me. ----- Original Message ----- From: <chairman@xxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, August 25, 2005 8:19 AM Subject: [access-uk] Please can somebody tell me, In K1000 (any version). > Greetings, > > Please can somebody advise me, is it **essential** when installing **any** > version of K1000, that there is a scanner source already on the system? > > If it is not possible to install a version of K1000 without any form of > scanner and/or drivers, what is the minimum with which I can get away? > > My thinking is that I wish to assist a friend which entails my loading > K1000 version 9.0, doing the job and uninstalling it again but the job is > to convert some .jpg files, so once completed, there is no further use > hence it can easily run in demo mode for this one job. > > My friend does not have and is not going to acquire any form of scanner at > present. > > My friend is using windowsXP (home), so is it possible from it's database, > to find something which would, if the need arises, make K1000 believe > there > is a scanner present?
