Hello all,

My computer keeps taking what seems like a long time to start up. Sometimes it seems to restart itself before starting JAWS/other programs that come on at startup.

A while ago I was having errors when I started up and got a program to clean the registry and that seemed to fix things. But now wondering whether there's another problem...

Today someone sighted told me (when it was taking ages to start up) that it said it was checking drive c for consistency, you may cancel this but it is strongly recommended you don't. I let it do its thing, then it restarted and all seemed fine. But strange things have happened:
1. A message came from JAWS saying JAWS had now been activated as if I'd only just activated it.
2. Two pieces of hardware I've already installed brought up the Found New Hardware Wizard, and looking in Control Panel these (a scanner and a USB TV stick) are no longer listed.

Suggestions?

Catherine
