Ed, When you land in the programme control tab about twice and this will take you to a control where you can use the up and down arrow keys to adjust the distance you want to jump in a recording (a maximum of 15 minutes and minimum of 0.1 seconds). Control t will then jump you forward by the amount you have selected and control l will jump you back. By the way, if you press shift r without having pressed shift l earlier in the recording it will automatically select from the start and if you press shift l without then pressing shift r after that point it will automatically select to the end. If you then press the delete key the selected part of the recording will be deleted. This is quite useful if you just want to trim a piece off the end or the beginning of a recording. If you make a mistake control z will undo your last action. Once I've started a selection with shift L, how do I then move through the recording in order to find the end point? Do I need to play the recording in order to do this or is it possible to navigate the recording more quickly? Thanks again, Ed -----Original Message----- From: access-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of RMPortal Sent: 13 January 2013 11:50 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] R: Editing in Total Recorder using JAWS Dear Edward, Total Recorder is one of those programmes I have intended for ages to go through in detail to learn how to use its functionality to the full but have never got round to it. For simple editing though it could hardly be easier: Shift l starts a selection and shift r ends it and once the selection is made you can delete it, save it, play it etc. You need to look at the menus to check how. I have also found the help topics to be reasonably accessible and helpful. Please could someone give me some basic tips or point me to some information/a tutorial on how to edit using the keyboard? Is it possible to select increments of a recording and hear what it is you are selecting, so that you can delete, insert, move things etc? I haven't done any sound editing before so don't know if there are basic concepts common across most packages that I'm not aware of.
