Hi all. I am not a member of this yet as Tower Hamlets tell me I have to wait for someone to leave before they have so I can replace them. Code really for wait for someone to die. Yes I know that this is not good and needs challenging and yes I will do so but, I digress... I found the site very accessible once I got to it. the part of the page where relevant information begins has a heading at level 2 so you can easily use your screenreader to get there. It is a shame we are not told when the book was written or the publisher. Is this available in the print or Braille catalog? It would also be handy to know when the actual book was written as well. This being said, when you get a list of books each book's information is in a table and any decent screenreader allows you to move by table. I know that Supernova will let you move from table to table but not sure how easy this is with zoomtext. The ability to do this would be useful certainly so you can move book by book magnifying each one to read further details. The ability to specify whether or not you want an author or title search to be only whole words or not would be useful. You may want to look an author called King for example but not Horking or Dorking for example. It is good to see this long overdue resource here however. cheers Graham Graham Page Mobile: 07753 607980 Fax: 0870 706 2773 Email: gpage@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx MSN: gabriel_mcbird@xxxxxxxxxxx Skype: gabriel_mcbird ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Russell" <david.russell8@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, August 03, 2005 1:46 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: RNIB Online Talking Book Catalogue Mel, The following message appeared on the talking book discussion list this morning. Hi to all you intrepid web catalogue users! Yes, the catalogue is up and live - the links were loaded on Monday. There are a few glitches which may mean that we take the catalogue down for a few days again (I know, I'm sorry!), but we've received a good handful of selection lists already and it's just so nice for people to able to use it at last! One or two tips: For some reason the URL http://rnib/tbookcat/index.asp, even when saved as a favourite, defaults to a different URL, http.......pages/search.asp which comes up as not found except when it's accessed via the main RNIB website. I'd recommend that you save to your favourites list the URL http://www.rnib.org.uk/talkingbooks and use the link in the Choosing Your Books section of that page. When you get to the search form, you can use just a few characters of the author's name or the book title and you don't have to put anything in ALL the search boxes. If you know the author's name, for example, but the first name is initials only, try using just the surname. Or you could try the surname plus the first initial of the first name; or the surname plus one word from the title. Out of interest, none of our catalogue information specifies when a book was written, but most titles are added to the library in chronological order. The 'added since' search option refers to when books were added to the Talking Book library - not their print publication date. Happy searching, best wishes, Catherine Hewitt -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Mel Spooner Sent: 03 August 2005 11:17 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] RNIB Online Talking Book Catalogue Hi All, I had a look at this on Monday first thing and it looked very promising. However, since then the page has been showing an internal server error and I haven't been able to get in. Are other people having the same problem?
