Hi Amro

Sounds to me like there is either a hardware fault with the card reader, or you
have a faulty connection somewhere. If disconnecting and then reconnecting the
reader got it working, then maybe that should be tried again. If there is a
faulty connection then the card reader may stop working again at some point. If
hardware is fitted properly and there are no conflicts then it should usually
work ok. If it's an internal reader then there will be a ribbon cable which
connects onto a PCI card. Both the PCI card and ribbon cable should be checked
to make sure they are securely in place.

Darren.

  Hi Darren,

Thanks for your reply. I followed your suggestion but unfortunately I still
can't get the readers to work. I think, though I'm not so sure, that I found
the cards reader on the list of the hardware devices, but even upon following
the Add Hardware Wizard dialogs and completing the steps, windows is still not
recognising the cards reader.

  Cheers,
  Amro

    Hi

Have you tried using the add hardware wizard in the control panel? It will
do a search and ask you if the hardware is already connected. If so then you
can choose from a list of devices and hopefully it should find the card reader
and install the relevant drivers.

    Darren.

      Hi George,

That's the thing, the readers still not working after a couple of
re-boots. They don't appear on My Computer list of drivers nor on the list of
devices in the Devices Manager dialog. Inserting an SD card in the readers
didn't even trigger the readers to work.

      Cheers,
      Amro

        Hi Amro,

Have you checked to see if the readers now work. They may well have
automatically re-installed when you did the re-boot.

        George.

        Hi George,

I know how to re-boot :) but how do I let my system find the drivers
again? :) Just re-booting didn't work. Thanks.

        Amro

Have you tried re-booting, and letting the system find the drivers
again?

          Hi everyone,

For a stupid reason of me, I clicked on safely remove hardware for my
desktop's built in memory card reader. So now the memory card reader isn't
showing on my computer. Inserting an SD card in it didn't help nor restarting
my computer. So how can I get the memory card reader to work again please? I
really do hope that I don't have to physically uninstall and reinstall the
cards reader for my computer to recognise it. Any help please!

          Cheers,

          Amro
