Hi Darren and all!

I believe the latest Portset machine uses real speak as one of its speech
engines. There was one for sale in the latest new beacon but bet its gone!
Cheers!

HI Darren,

When I heard the Galileo back in around September 1997, it was using
Dectalk speech (or what sounded very similar anyway).

Regarding the Portset product, I've never heard it, therefore am unable to
comment. However I too would be interested to know what Speech Engine it
uses.

Cheers,

Mark

Hi List.

I've been very happy with my Kurzweil Reading Edge, which has been in use
for about ten years now, but I'm thinking about a change as its getting a
bit clunky and will eventually give up the ghost!

I've had a look at the Portset reader and the Galileo from Robotron, but was

hoping someone could tell me what kind of speech they use? For example, is
the Portset model using similar speech to their Talking Teletext units?

Regards.

Darran
