I like the professional edition since you can edit, process, and convert 
sound. Yes there are other programs for that, but one thing that interests 
me the most is that it's all keyboard and JAWS friendly! So I prefer that 
than say GoldWave, although I will use GoldWave for applying audio effects.

Just to add... Another good thing about Total Recorder that it captures
internet streams such as BBC Listen Again without recording your screen
reader at the same time. I believe the standard edition costs around £18
which I think what you need. Download it and try it, I think you'll like it!
