Baldev,

many thanks.

I did it eventually by just highlighting a tab character in the document and
copying it to the clipboard. Pasted it into the search string area and this
worked fine. Hal announces a blank line once the character was pasted, but
it did the job.

thanks again,

Mark Threadgold

Hi Mark

find and replace (control h)
Find string: ^t (for one tab) press shift 6 to get the caret symbol
Replace String just put in a space character here.
I hope that helps.

Hi all.

How can I do a search and replace in Word 2k to search for a tab character
please?

I wish to replace all the tabs in a document with a space. There are a
considerable amount and surely it can be done other than manually?

Cheers,
Mark Threadgold
