Thanks George. Think I've made it work, eventually. Don't ask me why
it was so temperamental! <SMILE>

Hi Carol,

This happens with any file you copy to a CD. It drives me bonkers.

I usually drop them into a folder on my PC, and then in y Computer
select Properties for that same folder on the PC, make sure the "Read
Only" check box is unchecked, click OK, and when asked if this applies
to all sub-folders, say yes.

By the way, if you use a read/write CD, it usually retains
the read/write status.

George.

Hi all,

Can anyone help with this one?

I have created a CD (which has no copyright attached to the taped
material from which it was copied) and have run into a problem in
changing the attributes of the files which are now "Read Only" etc on
the CD. These files are .CDA files and have been produced with a tape
to CD copier. I now want to copy them over to my computer and don't
really wish to keep them on CD's.

I have found a few suggested utilities out there but have
found nothing
to suggest that they are going to do this job, so I'm particularly
interested to learn if anyone has such utilities which they use that
enable them to change attributes that Windows (and DOS) will not change.

Of course, if I don't find any other answers, I shall be
asking
questions of the manufacturers of the tape/CD copier used,
but hope I
may solve this easily enough.
