Hi all,

Just thought I'd let you know about my experience I've just had with the
Samsung NC10 recovery CD. Yep, not the recovery partition on the actual hard
drive, as I wiped that out ages ago.

OK, so first, I booted the NC10 to the desktop, however the option to boot from
CD is also available.

I placed the CD in an external CD drive and let it go.

Next, I followed the on screen instructions, telling it that I did want to
customise options. It restarted the machine, and started the usual Windows
install process.

It prompted me to choose a partition. I had sited help, and was instructed,
upon me telling the person I wanted partition1, to press down arrow once,
followed by the enter key.

I was prompted by a message stating that a current Windows instalation already
resided on the partition I had selected, at which point I pressed the letter
"L" to continue.

Windows then formatted the partition and rebooted.

It then copied files and such, and I was prompted with screens asking for my
name, the date and time, and allowing me to set regional and language options.
I did this, and it did its thing for a few more minutes.

It then rebooted, and I made the mistake of booting from CD, it showed me the
partition selection screen again, however I just pressed F3 twice to exit
setup, at which point it took me back to the final steps of the install, where
I had got to before the reboot.

The instalation and setup finalised, and I was presented with the desktop. No
sound, no software, no Bluetooth, etc, but it was Windows.

At this point, I put in the second CD. It told me to click either 'Standard
Instalation' or 'Minimum Instalation'. I chose standard, and it is now
installing drivers as we speak. I'm hearing sounds, hardware connected beeps
and all that so something tells me its all working how it should, apart from it
complaining that I don't have a recovery partition on my drive.

OK, so overall, not a task I would recommend without sited help, however I
suppose it could be done.

Oh and all this has taken about an hour and a half.
