Hi Ari, wow didn't know about these others I would be very interested in the one from belgem. I did have a look on the site you gave in the email but couldn't understand it. I would be grateful if you could find it in English please Ari. Many thanks Andy S

Hi Andrew
Just so that you do know, I read an article last year about these
products where standalone reading machines were compared. In their
comparison they found this one to be the most accurate, not the Sara.
Here is the English web site.
http://www.sensotec.be/products/detail.aspx?ID=349
I will look for the article for you. It was from a Belgian computer
magazine for the blind called Infovisie. It is in Dutch, and I could
only understand it because its near enough to afrikaans, but you can
try google translate it. I'll look for it and email it to you. If I
remember, I think the reason they gave for this being the most
accurate product was they said the Omnipage engine it uses is better
than the Finereader engine Sara apparrently uses, but I can't be sure.
The others they also compared were the Poet from Baum and something
called Sophie Pro from Handytech in Germany. I don't really remember
what their findings were on those two, I just remember that they gave
the Sensotec above the best award.
I also don't know if they still sell it, but there's also another
reading machine from Australia which actually sounds very nice because
it has an A3 scanner size, so you can scan the book more easily or at
least two pages of a hard book at one time. I'm sorry, but even though
it sounds nice I have no idea how good it is and haven't read any
reviews of it. The good part about this one is you can order it
online, maybe you can email them and ask for more info if you want.

Hi Andrew, you don't need to spend an arm and a leg on special access tech
stuff to read print. All you need is a scanner. You can get a USB scanner,
such as the Canon LiDE 210 for 60 quid or so. If you go down the access tech

route it'll cost you hundreds to do the same thing. Ok,
                    John.

So what is the price of one of these machines? will it read stuff on
glossy paper also? will I be able to read my bank statements on it? I
mainly would like this for reading gardening books, would it ignore
the
graphic? Is there any thing this machine will not read? I think I shall
get one as long as all my questions are answered.
